If you plan on flying with Delta, then expect a few changes regarding your luggage if you have a firearm inside.  The TSA rules have not changed, this is just a change that only Delta has made so far.  These changes were quietly imposed just weeks after Esteban Santiago got off of a Delta flight and began firing his handgun in the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.

When your luggage with the firearm is checked in, it will be given a new special tag, which informs the ground handlers to not put the bag on the general carousel.  You now have to retrieve your baggage from a baggage service agent who will perform an ID check, then they will attach zip ties to the bag/s.
