Why do our customers like Red Dot electronic sights?

This is a very valid question! I often wonder what optic would work best with my guns and AR-15s can be easy to fit an optic too. More than half of the time I choose a red dot or prism sight. Those two options just seem to be the most fitting for my eyes and use case. Sure a longer range rifle scope is a great choice but I often don’t need much magnification as a range plinker and home defense gun. You pretty much cant go wrong with a durable red dot for most AR-15 needs under 300 yards or so.

I have to say though, I have a clone – Mk12 rifle build that just looks so sweet with my Riton 6-24 First Focal Plane optic on there. It has a sunshade and I am going to spray on some camo eventually. The Athlon HMR also has been catching my attention recently to maybe do a mid range AR too. Its right here if you want to see it. I didn’t know I needed one of those until I read the description -> Athlon Midas HMR 2.5-15×50 Riflescope (BDC) Now I have some options to consider.

Anyways, to get back to the main topic, why do I gravitate to the Redo Dot style optics? Other things catch my attention like and variable optic, long range scope, and even some of the fixed magnification optics. You do have to be careful though to not fall for a counterfeit or knock off item that looks too cheap to be true… its cheap for a reason. My go-to red dots haven’t ever failed me. Solid US made red dots like the TSR2 from Athlon have been rugged and reliable. Thats why I am so excited to have a bundle deal for you guys!

When in doubt or just unsure what to do, I just grab a quality Red or Green dot optic. Here are the reasons why:

Simplicity: Red dot sights provide a simple and intuitive aiming solution. They have a single illuminated red dot reticle, making them easy to use and quick to acquire targets. You put the dot on the target and pull the trigger. They are easy to sight in and often have one or two buttons. Thats it!

Speed: The dot allows for rapid target acquisition, especially in close-quarters or fast-paced situations. I tend to miss a target when I put my magnification up to high. I do admit that would be a skill or experience issue as well, but most people are in a similar boat as me. I can be much quicker between targets as an everyday gun enthusiast with my red dot or green dot sight.

Parallax-Free: Red dot sights are designed to be parallax-free, meaning the aiming point remains on target regardless of the shooter’s eye position. This eliminates the need for precise eye alignment, again allowing for faster and more accurate shooting. It also makes it easier to consistently line up your shots.

Unlimited Eye Relief: Red dot sights offer virtually unlimited eye relief, meaning the shooter can maintain proper target sight picture and aim with both eyes open. I often will close one eye while shooting but after watching and listening to so many professional competitors, it becomes apparent that having both eyes open can play a huge role in your success. This provides enhanced situational awareness, as the shooter can see the target and the surrounding environment simultaneously. If you have an optic with too narrow of an eye box or eye relief distance, you can often obstruct your vision with the different parts of larger scopes.

Versatility: Red dot sights are suitable for a wide range of shooting applications. They can be mounted on rifles, shotguns, handguns, and even crossbows. They are particularly popular for close-quarters combat, home defense, competitive shooting, and tactical applications. Some have a BDC reticle to help you estimate some ballistic drop but a simple red dot often does the trick too!

There are so many options for optics out there. Lots of times you can find a brand that works for you or a style / design that you are happy with. We have been so happy with Athlon Optics. Their people are awesome, their products perform well, and they are made in the USA. That combo of traits makes them an easy choice to combo with our rifles. (Not to toot our own horn, but I do think an Athlon TSR2 or or TSP prism look so good on our rifles!)

These Optics are definitely an awesome choice!  Check out this review from  Barritus Defense TSR2 Optic Review
